QuaranThings : Staying Home Doesn't Have to be Boring

It has been 59 days since the President placed the entire island of Luzon under enhanced community quarantine or ECQ as a measure to contain the Covid-19 pandemic from spreading.

It’s not clear what difference between a few weeks or months of isolation will make with all of us. As social quarantine is now a thing to observe, many has been experiencing boredom and restlessness. Just remember that self-quarantine does not have to mean being in social isolation. Social isolation can generate loneliness, and loneliness can be bad for mental health and well-being of an individual.

Research shows that children are the ones dealing with the most consequential impacts on their psychological health but giving them social support can make them more resilient to stress. This current situation deprived them of access to larger networks thus they're lacking interactive experiences. Interaction with peers plays a major role to the development of close relationships outside of the family, social skills and sense of morality.

One of the most important things to remember is to keep our children or family not only physically but also mentally and spiritually healthy. Remind them that your family is healthy, and you are going to do everything within your power to keep them and your loved ones safe and well.

Just because we're socially distancing doesn’t mean that we can’t connect with our friends, family or loved ones. Virtual connections and social medias are now critical part of the way people communicate. Facebook, Messenger, Viber, Zoom are social platforms beneficial with all age groups from all walks of life.

Here's something you can do to keep your family entertained while at home. Being obliged to stay at home doesn't mean we can't have some fun. Right?

We started this game when the ECQ was extended last April to make bond with our cousins. So basically the rule is they have to answer 1 quiz everyday until May 15, 2020 to win special prizes. I  will send them the quiz in our group chat and they will send their answer to me thru private message.

We have a tie for the second and first winner so it's time for a tie-breaker. I was amazed how Lance just let his Ate Zy win coz she just had her birthday last Tuesday. It was so touching!

Aside from this, doing exercise, cooking, and playing together are perfect activities to show affection and influence them with good values that would come handy as they grow up.

Certainly, this situation remind all of us how important we all are to each other and staying indoors can still be so much fun with your family. This is a perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones.

Stay safe everyone! See you around.
